Western Shoals

The shoal is a coral reef rather than a sandbar and lies furthest out to sea of the four shoals at the head of the harbour. Its slope is cut by small and larger crevices filled with sponges, reef fish and invertebrates. The top is covered in vast staghorn coral colonies sheltering thousands of small fish. Typhoons damaged parts of the reef, but it is recovering and still rated a good, easy dive with reliable conditions.
