Kirby's Rock

Also known as: Kirbys

Dives usually start on the smaller rock that breaks the surface and continue to a larger, deeper pinnacle whose summit lies at about 18 metres. Between the two lies a narrow canyon where gorgonians hold pygmy seahorses and painted frogfish hide among the sponges. The rock is covered in hydroids, soft corals and countless small yellow sea cucumbers, and the dragon nudibranch is one of its sought-after residents. Schooling jacks and other fish gather when the current runs, and the current can change direction during a dive. Below recreational depth, the reef drops away as a wall that only technical divers visit.
