Line Reef

Line Reef sits next to Hardy Reef on the edge of the Whitsunday shelf, where the water is clearer than around the islands. Its wall reaches 10 to 15 m before a steep slope of rubble and sand takes over. The ledges are lined with small, vividly coloured soft corals, sea fans and feather stars. Cod, sweetlips, wrasse, coral trout and angelfish are common. The reef gives shelter from wind but none from current, so it is dived as a drift.
