Langford Reef

Also known as: Langford Spit · Langford Reef North

Langford Island is a small island near Hayman Island whose long sand spit appears at low tide. Divers do best at the north-western tip of the beach, where small bommies scattered over sand form a maze. The bottom slopes gently from the shore to about 15 m before turning to rubble and silty sand, and a few shallow walls lie at the eastern end. Fish are mostly small but abundant. Tidal currents run most of the time except at slack water, strongest at mid-tide.
