Dolphin Point

Dolphin Point is the north-western tip of Hayman Island and is known as a deeper dive than most island sites. House-sized rock slabs and huge boulders lie on a sloping bottom of rubble and sand, with coral bommies up to 15 m and the odd swim-through. Trevally, tuna, mackerel and barracuda are common, whitetip reef sharks rest under ledges, and hammerheads are seen occasionally. The site is sheltered from all winds except northerlies, but currents near the point mean it needs a calm day.
