The Zoo
The Zoo takes its name from the dense mix of small animals living on a compact patch reef close to the resort. Frogfish, ghost pipefish, mantis shrimp, leaf fish, hairy squat lobsters, pygmy seahorses and the rarely seen mushroom pipefish are among the residents. At dusk mandarinfish come out of the staghorn and rubble to mate, and after dark hunting cuttlefish, flatworms, bobtail squid and twinspot lionfish take over. Visiting divers single it out as one of Wakatobi's signature dives, with cuttlefish and buried stonefish in the sand patches.
