Oak Leaf Park

Also known as: Oak Leaf · Es-hw Sme~nts

The site lies in a community park whose name Es-hw Sme~nts means seal rock, a short walk from the parking lot. The shallow Big Bay on the left is a favourite for night dives and for seasonal Pacific spiny lumpsuckers in winter. In between, a gently sloping main wall suits Open Water divers, while the deep wall with cloud and boot sponges is for trained divers only. Octopus, rockfish, lingcod, stubby squid and spotted ratfish are common, and a sixgill shark turns up now and then. If wind comes from east or west, the sheltered side can usually still be dived.
