G.B. Church
Also known as: MV G.B. Church
The ship served as a pilot project for the larger naval reefs that followed, and was stripped, cleaned and opened with access holes before sinking. The site was chosen for its flat sandy bottom and its closeness to local dive shops. Portland Island shelters the wreck from most of the current, so below about 10 m there is usually little flow even if the surface is moving. Octopus and wolf eels have made the wreck their home, and two buoys mark the site.
