Lindsey's Back Porch

A steep wall, vertical in places, runs from south to north here before turning out to sea towards the east. Its top is described as the best place in Belize to see the three large parrotfish species, rainbow, blue and midnight parrotfish. The reef flat is covered with sea plumes and gorgonian fans and splits into narrow fingers that lead down to the edge of the wall. The coral ledges shelter the white-spotted toadfish, which is found only in Belize. Black grouper, hawksbill and loggerhead turtles and nurse sharks are seen, and further east a wide sand channel runs along the top of the wall.
