Horseshoe Reef

Also known as: Horse Shoe Reef

This large barrier reef shields the cays from the Atlantic and gives the Tobago Cays Marine Park its sheltered lagoon. The protected inner side is shallow and suits snorkellers, while scuba dives head to the steeper drop-off facing the ocean. The park names corals such as Porites, Acropora, Millepora and gorgonians on the reef. Nurse sharks often sleep under the ledges, and sea turtles are regular companions.
