El Meridian

Also known as: El Meridian Wreck · KFK 469

The vessel was built in 1944 as the minesweeper KFK 469, came to Tenerife in the 1970s and carried tourists on whale-watching trips for decades. After sinking in the harbour it was moved to its present spot near a rocky reef, where it now serves as an artificial reef. Baitfish swarm around the hull and draw in hunting amberjack, while moray eels, octopus and groupers live nearby and rays cross the sand. Angel sharks are seen in winter, and dolphins occasionally pass during the safety stop.
