Tasman Island

Tasman Island is a remote site off the tip of the peninsula. On the sheltered north-eastern side, near the old lighthouse jetty, the bottom falls quickly to 25 metres and keeps sloping into deeper water, covered in colourful deep-water sponges. The channel and the area around The Monkeys to the south can carry very strong currents, which bring in marine mammals and schooling fish but make the dive more demanding. Much of the southern end is shallower and battered by swell.
