Sydney Cove Wreck

Also known as: Sydney Cove

The Sydney Cove was carrying rum from Calcutta to the young colony at Sydney when she began to leak and was beached near what the crew named Rum and Preservation Islands. The voyage led to the discovery of Bass Strait and its seal colonies. Much of the wreck is now covered by sand and netting to protect it, but ship timbers and the outline of the hull can still be seen. Disturbing anything on the site is against the law. The dive is usually combined with the nearby Cambridgeshire wreck.
