USS Banaang

Also known as: USS Banaang (YT-104) · Steam Tug

The 29 m tug served the US naval station at Olongapo and is thought to have been destroyed on 25 December 1941. Her 3-pounder gun had been taken off beforehand and handed to the 4th Marine Regiment for the fighting on Bataan. Little of the hull is left intact, but the remains still lie in place on a sandy bottom. Shrimp, nudibranchs, eels and rays make it a good site for macro photography, although it is seldom dived.
