Currents from the north and south meet at the headland and flow seaward, bringing nutrients and clear water. The result is a reef of boulders covered in corals and sponges against white sand, cut by canyons that lead to deeper water. Fish life is unusually rich, and the SMMA describes a school of crevalle jack of up to a thousand fish that is not found anywhere else on the island. Lobsters, stingrays and octopus are common and turtles appear regularly. Because of the current, operators run it as a drift dive along the wall.
