Ras Umm Sid
Also known as: Ras Um Sid · Ras Umm Sidd
Ras Umm Sid is one of the classic Sinai dives: a reef wall falls to a plateau, and at the corner a dense forest of sea fans grows between about 14 and 28 m. Beyond it a second plateau carries pinnacles covered in soft corals with scorpionfish, batfish and many reef fish. The top of the reef is riddled with small caves and crannies that suit photography. Because deep water lies on both sides, schools of barracuda, snappers, eagle rays and, in summer, mantas and whale sharks are possible. The corner, marked by a white post, can have very strong currents, and the site is also a popular night dive.
