Tajma Ha
Also known as: Taj Mahal · Taj Ma Ha
The name became Tajma Ha as a play on the Maya word 'ha' for water. A figure-eight cavern line starts near the entrance stairs and passes Points of Light, a huge chamber where small ceiling holes send narrow beams into the water, most strongly from about March to September. The Sugar Bowl is a round cenote that drops more than 30 feet from the jungle floor, and divers who surface there may see sleeping bats. Fossil shells, rich speleothems and a halocline that blurs vision add to the dive. Dive centres stress good buoyancy because the route passes close to fragile formations and sharp rock edges.
