Roca Partida
The rock is only about 100 m long, with two peaks above water, so divers can circle it several times in one dive or swim off the walls into the blue. Ledges and small caves on the walls hold piles of whitetip reef sharks resting during the day, along with lobsters. Huge schools of jacks, tuna and creolefish swirl around the rock and attract Galapagos, silky and silvertip sharks and schools of scalloped hammerheads. Oceanic manta rays, dolphins and whale sharks pass regularly, and humpback whales are often met here between February and April. Currents are frequent, and the rock can only be dived when the wind is not too strong.
