Eagle Rock

Eagle Rock is a group of small rocky islets off southern Kawe, named after the eagles that circle above them. Underwater, three pinnacles sit on slopes that fall to around 25 m, covered in hard and soft corals, gorgonians and sponges. Mantas come to cleaning stations in the channels between the pinnacles and are sometimes seen feeding at the surface. Grey reef sharks, wobbegongs, giant trevallies, barracuda, batfish and schools of snapper and fusiliers are common. A common plan is to descend to about 25 m, drift with the current around the bommies and end the dive over a shallow ledge at about 5 m, where pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish and leaf scorpionfish hide.
