Because the cape is open to the sea in the north, currents here can be strong, and schools of trevally, barracuda, jacks and fusiliers are common. Massive boulders form overhangs, small caves and swim-throughs along the reef. Large groupers, giant moray eels, Napoleon wrasse and turtles live among the rocks. Several species of triggerfish live here and can turn aggressive in the mating season. Local dive centres use it for deep diving training.
