Marsa Abu Dabbab
Also known as: Abu Dabbab · Abu Dabab · Marsa Abu Dabab
Divers walk in from the beach and swim a short way into the bay to reach the seagrass, where large green turtles graze and guitarfish and rays rest on the sand. A dugong is sometimes seen here, though never guaranteed. The two fringing reefs on either side of the bay carry hard and soft corals and plenty of reef fish; Red Sea Diving Safari describes a north profile along the wall to about 30 m and a south profile to about 20 m. Macro lovers search the grass for ghost pipefish, the thorny seahorse and frogfish. The shallow, sheltered bay suits beginners and snorkellers, and it can get busy because of its popularity.
