Taiyo

Also known as: Taiyo Fishing Boat Wreck · Wreck of the Taiyo · Taiyo Wreck · The Upright Wreck

The Taiyo is a fishing boat that went aground on the reef near Nono Lagoon on its first voyage. A failed salvage attempt left it standing almost vertically against the wall, bow up in very shallow water and stern resting on a narrow coral ledge with the drop-off continuing below. The vessel is intact and still fully equipped, which makes it an unusual sight. Anemonefish and many nudibranchs live on the hull, schools of jacks and barracuda circle nearby, and silvertip sharks sometimes pass.
