Charapoana Point

Also known as: Charapoanna Point

Charapoana Point lies on the far side of Charapoana Passage from Uepi Point and is often described as its slightly calmer counterpart. Where the currents meet at the corner, sharks, barracuda, trevally and tuna circle through schools of feeding fish. The wall has many hollows that shelter reef fish, and the shallows above hold large basket sponges and, at times, many pipefish. Don Silcock found the more sheltered water past the point and into the channel the most rewarding, especially for wide-angle macro photography.
