La Pointe Cabrit
Also known as: Trou à Diable
Whatever the sea state, this corner of Ilet à Cabrit is protected from swell and current, so it is dived from the first try dive onward. To the north, a wall drops to about 15 m over sand with coral heads and giant barrel sponges, and big boulders hide morays, fairy basslets, two resident hawksbill turtles and the shy cherubfish. To the south, the wall shallows from 15 to 7 m over 200 m and a sand flat hosts garden eels before a large star coral head full of life. Basket stars, hermit crabs, lionfish and flamingo tongue snails are among the other sightings. A school of grey snappers is often met on the way back.
