Pulau Dua

The name means two islands, because a second island lies next to the one with the dive site. Facing the open sea, the reefs encircle the island and slope down in fingers of reef; Divers Lodge Lembeh notes that the sea floor drops to about 1.3 km within 4 km toward the Molucca Sea. Currents can be strong and bring bigger animals: Bastianos reports blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, and Lembeh Resort barracuda, sharks and bumphead parrotfish. Divers Lodge says the area was recently declared a no-fishing zone for tourism and that the south side of Lembeh is accessible from November to April.
