Île aux Canards
Also known as: Ilot Canards
The islet is the first one off Nouméa's main beach and is a protected reserve. A dive centre runs a floating pontoon there for try dives and helmet walks, which makes conditions very easy for beginners. Ultramarina names it among the easy dives close to Nouméa, and Sud Tourisme lists its underwater trail among the best snorkelling spots.
