Shimoasaji

Also known as: 下浅地 (Japanese)

The rock is too large to circle, so dives follow the dramatic drop-off on the south-west side. Its plateau is densely covered with table corals, the densest in Kushimoto according to ARK, along with soft corals. Schools of damselfish, rudderfish and fusiliers pass the edge, and parrotfish, spotted eagle rays and large groupers are seen. At times hundreds of pelagic fish sweep past. Precise buoyancy is essential at this depth.
