Sanbira
Also known as: サンビラ (Japanese)
The shallow part is rich in reef-building corals with southern damselfish, butterflyfish and wrasses, so tropical and temperate species meet here. Further out the bottom turns to silty sand, the only such habitat among the Kushimoto sites according to Marine Stage, where gobies rarely seen elsewhere live. A deep-water bandfish has been recorded here. In summer juveniles carried north mix with adults, and in winter schools of barracuda and grunts can be met at a fish reef to the east.
