Cable Wreck
Also known as: Staphonos · Staphonos Wreck · MV Staphonos · Stavronisos
The ship went down in 1978 carrying steel beams, chain link fencing, asbestos sheets and cables, and the cargo that still lies in and around its holds gave the wreck its nickname. It rests on its port side on the bottom at about 24 m near Abu Tair. Light from the surface reaches into the cargo holds, so divers can swim through them without a torch, and the bridge can be visited with care. A guitar shark is reported near the bow, whitetip reef sharks patrol the ledge and a school of goatfish and blue-striped snappers gathers around the mast. On calm days divers of all levels visit it, while strong current turns it into a dive for experienced divers.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
