Abu Tair

Also known as: Abu Tayer

Abu Tair lies about 45 km southwest of Jeddah and is known for its rich marine life and for the shipwrecks in the area, among them the Cable Wreck. Its reefs are deeper and more massive than those near the coast, with large coral formations next to open blue water. Blue-spotted rays and occasional blacktip reef sharks are reported. A local dive centre recommends it for intermediate and experienced divers and for underwater photography.
