Stella Maru
Also known as: Stella Maru Wreck
The trawler was sunk at the request of the Mauritius Scuba Diving Association to attract marine life. It first lay on its side until the heavy swell of cyclone Dina in January 2002 lifted it and set it upright on its keel. Blue Water describes resident giant moray eels, one of them living in the funnel with cleaner shrimps, along with triggerfish, trevallies, stingrays and leaf scorpionfish. The site is sheltered, so dive centres run it all year round. Although it is a wreck, My Base Diving notes that open water divers visit it as well.
