Punta Carrion
Punta Carrion lies at the entrance of the Itabaca Channel between Santa Cruz and Baltra, only minutes by boat from the pier. The dive begins in calm, protected water over a sandy and rocky bottom and leads to a cliff ringed by boulders where swell and current pick up. The exposed side is good for pelagics, with whitetip, Galapagos, blacktip and hammerhead sharks reported. Eagle rays, stingrays, turtles and sea lions are common, and the site is known for thermoclines. Nearby mangroves shelter small fish and coastal birds.
