Isla Tortuga

Also known as: Tortuga Island · Brattle Islet

Isla Tortuga is a tuff crater off southern Isabela whose southeast side has eroded away, leaving a half-moon rim. Its volcanic walls are decorated with gorgonian fans and corals. A cleaning station attracts sea turtles, rays and sharks, and hammerheads, giant mantas and sea lions are the most frequent big sightings. Day boats from Puerto Villamil reach it in 30 to 45 minutes, and two dives are usually made on different sides of the islet.
