Mosquito Pier

Mosquito Pier is a mile-long breakwater built by the US Navy with an old pier at its end, and it feels much like a wreck dive. With a maximum depth of about 12 m and easy shore entry, dives here often last more than an hour. Isla Nena Scuba calls it every local diver's favourite and reports hawksbill and green turtles, big French angelfish, moray eels, lobsters and octopus. Black Beard Sports adds rays, schools of tarpon and resting nurse sharks, and lucky divers have met manatees, dolphins and goliath groupers. PR Activities describes its calm, protected water as ideal for learning the basics.
