The Cathedral

Also known as: Cathedral Cave

The Cathedral takes its name from the size of its chamber and the shafts of light that fall through openings in the ceiling. Its stalactites and stalagmites grew while the cave was still above sea level, and Blue Adventures links its flooding to a tsunami in Minoan times. Freshwater pools inside cause slight changes in temperature. Colourful sponges cover the rock, and the clear water makes the site a strong choice for underwater photography.
