Las Palmas
Also known as: Las Palmas Wall · Palmas Wall
Rough tube sponges, brain coral and rope sponges dominate the reef. Hurricane damage once covered much of it with sand, and the regrowing coral now stands out against the white bottom. Turtles, honeycomb cowfish and parrotfish swim in the open, while lobsters, juvenile angelfish and the occasional splendid toadfish hide under the coral heads. A ridge beyond the coral heads is visited by pairs of queen angelfish and eagle rays. Currents here can swirl and change direction.
