Jardin de Corail

Also known as: Coral's garden

Jardin de Corail runs along the eastern face of the Pigeon Islets, where boats may not pass over the reef, so divers and snorkellers can swim above it safely. Hawksbill turtles, horse-eye jacks and schools of tropical fish are the typical sightings over the coral. Experienced divers can head due east from the mooring to a drop-off patrolled by barracuda and kingfish. A sandy strip holds the underwater bust of Commandant Cousteau at about 12 m, a popular stop for divers. From the same mooring, confident divers can carry on towards Pointe Carangue or the hot springs.
