Le Hellcat

Also known as: Grumman F6F Hellcat

Bought by France in 1950 and used in Indochina, the plane belonged to flotilla 54S at Hyères; its 21-year-old pilot touched the water twice during a low-level handling exercise for carrier qualification and survived with a back injury. The wreck rests flat with the cockpit open and the propeller missing, one wing on the sand and the other in open water. Visibility is usually good and current weak, but the depth limits the dive to experienced divers.
