Anchor Reef
Also known as: Cominotto Reef
The reef top lies at around 10 m, with horseshoe-shaped bays, and drops as a wall to sand at 25 to 38 m. Scattered boulders at its foot hold the four-pronged anchor from the Second World War, now overgrown with sponges and soft corals. Small caverns under the boulders shelter burrowing anemones and peacock worms. Barracuda, amberjack and small tuna hunt along the wall, and rays are occasionally seen. The site is exposed to north-westerly winds and lies on the boat route to the Blue Lagoon, so a surface marker buoy is advised.
