Santo Antão Wreck
Also known as: Santo Antão · St Antao wreck · S. Antao
The Santo Antão went down in 1966 and rests on a sandy bank in shallow water, split into separate sections. Its many gaps and crevices have turned it into a busy reef where hundreds of pufferfish gather, which is why one dive centre calls it a pufferfish nursery. Stingrays and nurse sharks are regular visitors, and trumpetfish and parrotfish are also reported. Divers are asked to keep off the sand, since stirred-up sediment quickly spoils the visibility. The wreck lies only about ten minutes by boat from Santa Maria.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
