Bunaken Timur
Also known as: Timur
Timur means east, and the reef is so long that dive centres split it into several dives. Soft and leather corals cover the shallows, and from about 10 m a wall with lilac lace coral, tunnels and overhangs drops away. Green and hawksbill turtles, unicornfish, fusiliers and long-jawed mackerel are common, and whitetip reef sharks are seen along the wall. For macro there are pygmy seahorses, halimeda ghost pipefish and squat lobsters. The visibility is often excellent, and the site is best early in the day when the morning light reaches the reef.
