Saco dos Ingleses
Also known as: Thetis
Saco dos Ingleses takes its name from the British frigate Thetis, which struck the island in December 1830 while carrying gold and silver. The British set up a large salvage operation and recovered a large part of the treasure, but not all of it. The remains are broken and scattered over 8 to 40 m. Marine life is abundant, and upwelling can bring the water down to about 9 °C. Visibility is typically 8 to 12 m.
