Zuidbout
The water near the dike is so shallow that much of it falls dry at low tide, so divers walk about 480 metres along the pier and enter near its eastern end. The big blocks of the dam are covered with sponges and hide crabs, lobsters and small fish, and in clear water schools of fish appear, with pouting near the bottom and now and then a bass. To the left of the dam head lies a small wreck, barely recognisable but well overgrown. The current can bend in odd ways and change quickly towards the end of the pier, so the site is not for beginners. A lifeguard post is stationed here, and reminders of the 1953 flood surround the site.
