Marine Park
Also known as: Marine Park Wrecks
In front of the Marine Park centre's beach just north of Tekek, a group of confiscated fishing boats lies spread over a sandy bottom, and the wrecks are linked by ropes so divers can move from hull to hull. Sources count anywhere from eight to more than twelve boats; most are largely collapsed and often sit in low visibility, which gives the dive an eerie mood. Soft corals, nudibranchs and turtles are found on the wrecks, inquisitive batfish and remoras tend to follow divers, and shoals of fusiliers, jacks and trevally pass by. At the end of the dive the jetty pilings and an artificial reef shelter snappers, cardinalfish, silversides and a whirl of rabbitfish. The ropes make navigation simple, though a compass helps among so many hulls, and the site suits divers who are curious about wrecks and do not mind low visibility.
