Maafushi Caves

Divers are invited to linger in the overhang and watch the many reef dwellers sheltering inside. Eagle rays are often seen on this reef, together with whitetip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, green turtles and nurse sharks. Photographers come for moray eels with cleaner shrimps, nudibranchs, hawkfish and the overgrown overhangs. SSI notes soft corals growing beneath coral formations, sheltered from light and from the sometimes strong current.
