South Male Atoll

South Male Atoll lies immediately south of North Male Atoll and is known among divers for dramatic channel (kandu) diving and shark encounters.

South Male Atoll forms part of the administrative Kaafu Atoll together with North Male Atoll. It is known for its channels and pinnacles, including Kandooma Thila, a notable shark-diving site, and the Kandooma Caves. Guraidhoo Kandu is a large channel system offering drift dives with grey reef sharks, eagle rays, turtles and occasional whale sharks and mantas, with manta season roughly May to October.
