Dhigu Thila
Also known as: Digu Thila · Gulhi Dhigu Thila · Bushy Thila
The thila runs from west to east and rises to within a few metres of the surface at its shallowest part. Along its sides overhangs and caves around 20 metres are packed with soft corals and sponges. Large schools of snappers, sweetlips and bannerfish live here, together with whitetip and nurse sharks, turtles, eagle rays and Napoleon wrasse. Maafushi Dive explains that outgoing currents push plankton to the eastern part of the reef, where mantas gather to feed. Small life such as nudibranchs, flatworms and shrimps is also common.
