Stingray Station
Stingray Station is a roughly square coral outcrop at the north-western end of the Alternatives. It owes its name to the many blue-spotted stingrays that collect here, mainly in March and April according to Umbi and in the spring months according to Emperor Divers. The reef shelters the surrounding shallow water, so it can be dived from a mooring or as a drift and is popular with snorkellers. Large groupers, turtles and leopard sharks visit, and small creatures make it rewarding for photographers and at night.
