Sand Garden
Also known as: Sand Gardens
Sand carried by currents through Urupa Passage builds this shallow garden, which rises to about 3 m inside Nursery Cove. Comb stars, hat urchins, lizardfish, goatfish and stingrays live on the sand, and garden eels have been seen. Golfball-sized rhodoliths formed by calcareous algae roll on the bottom and house tiny animals. Seafriends notes that the small size of this habitat makes it particularly interesting.
