Sugar Wreck
Also known as: Sugarwreck · MV Union Star
The freighter, registered as the MV Union Star, was carrying sugar when she went down and now rests on her starboard side on sand. Her highest point lies only about 6 m below the surface, and much of the ship, including the holds, engine room, wheelhouse and cabins, can be entered by trained wreck divers. Schools of barracuda, snappers, trevally and yellow scad circle the hull, while lionfish, scorpionfish, coral catsharks and bamboo sharks shelter in the structure. Being close to the mainland, the wreck often has limited visibility and can see strong currents, and parts of it have collapsed. It is popular and can get crowded in high season.
